SODABERG
Sodaberg is a dance company based in Zagreb which gathers artists from a different fields of contemporary dance production and further.
Sodaberg dedicates its forces to a constant re-evaluation of the actual artistic work action as well as actual thinking process around it as well as re-evaluation of the dedication process itself. In its very name, Sodaberg stands simultaneously for a wide variety of functions; from the dance company over organization of authors, to the thinking field, blog, activation platform, brand, opera production office or whatever is needed to fulfill the most present time artistic occupation. It is a Question of Desire that we are driven by, in a constant redefinition of our very definition - post contemporary, post political, post esthetical and post activistic we are determent to use every technology as well as technique that we find is the most intriguing for the producement of the contemporaneity itself.
Sodaberg co-operates and works with numerous artists, authors, theoreticians and the involved ones in the Croatian as well as European contemporary dance scene. We thank everybody for lively and constructive cooperation.
Sodaberg je plesna kompanija, koreografski laboratorij i umjetnička organizacija koja svojim aktualnim specifičnim opredjeljenjem za istraživanje novih koreografskih trenja nastoji postaviti nove standarde razmicanja barijera pojedinih grana umjetničkog izričaja izdižući materiju iz svojih standardnih percepcijskih okvira te postavljajući ih u svježiji, nepredvidiviji kontekst posebice u području sučelja opernog i koreografskog. Otiskujući se od predvidivog modela koreografskog djelovanja te ukazujući na neke nove smjernice, rad Sodaberga time odgovara ne samo na inovacijski kriterij urbanog umjetničkog teritorija Zagreba nego i na inovacijski kriterij internacionalnog i europskog teritorija suvremenog plesa i kazališta.
Sodaberg je 2005. godine osnovala koreografkinja i plesačica Marjana Krajač zajedno s podrškom nekoliko drugih autora aktivnih u području scenskog izraza te teorijskom području. Sodaberg surađuje i razmjenjuje s brojnim umjetnicima, autorima, dramaturzima, teoretičarima i brojnim involviranima hrvatske te europske plesne scene. Svima se zahvaljujemo na konstruktivnoj i živoj suradnji.

Dugoročno posvećena istraživanju, uvjetno rečeno, sučelja opernog i koreografskog, Marjana Krajač nastavlja razradu ove materije i u 2008. godini opernim materijalom «Ariadne auf Naxos» Richarda Straussa.
Istraživanje je započela tijekom koreografskog projekta Choreographers' Venture - The Adventure u Beču, gdje surađuje s teoretičarom i autorom Mĺrtenom Spĺngbergom, a završnoj fazi izrade pridružuje se i Kirsten Burger, članica berlinskog autorskog kolektiva Oper Dynamo West.
Koristeći Straussov operni materijal kao bazu za koreografsku aktivaciju, Arijadna na Naxosu je istovremeno i reakcija na operni prijedlog i njezina inscenacija. Dok se operni materijal raslojava u širokom afektivnom spektru predloška, a koreografski materijal fokusira na ideologije tijela, ova predstava na vrlo osobni način zatvara krug na liniji meta-glazbenost - popness - tranzicijsko tijelo započet u dosadašnjim radovima autorice.

Paris/Ariadne - 1st Layout
During the research project The Adventure which took place in august
2006 at Impulstanz Festival in Vienna I started to work together with Mĺrten
Spĺngberg and Tor Lindstrand on the concept of staging, performing,
choreographing, insceining the Richard Strauss’ opera Ariadne auf Naxos
as the some sort of immaterial choreographic performance. During the last
years I have been working on the interface between the choreographic and
the opera material during the last research on this issue confronting the
Macbeth material of Verdi’s opera with the choreographic one and also in
a specific way using the material of the Puccinis' Manon Lescaut within
the work Victoria Beckham has migraine, so taking the research the
step further was a logical one. There is something undiscovered and underappreciated
in the opera for the choreographic practice which made a huge impact on my
work in the field of dance. Although there have been some operas choreographed
or some choreographies happened within the usual opera staging I still missed
some essence to it, some basical understanding of on what plateau the choreography
and opera actually meet and actual frictions. So in Vienna I decided to made
some radical step away from the conventional and went completely over-the-top
and off-the-shore. The result was a definitely hybrid performance where
Kathleen Battle and Jessye Norman Ariadne on Naxos-rehearsal with James Levine
find enough space as well as a Paris Hilton-Beach-Extravaganza. So the opera
material was choreographing the complete set instead the set just framing
the opera - this is what I called the Paris-Ariadne 1st Layout and
it will be continued further during the 2007. So - roll the Strauss!
Tijekom istrazivackog projekta The Adventure koji se odvio u kolovozu
2006. na festivalu Impulstanz u Becu zapocela sam zajedno s Mĺrtenom
Spĺngbergom i Torom Lindstrandom s radom na konceptu postavljanja,
izvodjenja, koreografiranja, insceniranja opere Richarda Straussa Ariadne
auf Naxos kao svojevrsne nematerijalne koreografske izvedbe. Posljednjih
godina bavila sam se intenzivno suceljem koreografskog i opernog materijala,
prvo tijekom istrazivanja oko Verdijeve opere Macbeth - serije
Lady Macbeth te takodjer specificnije, upotrebom Puccinijevog materijala
opere Manon Lescaut unutar rada Victoria Beckham ima migrenu
, tako da je ovaj rad logicni korak dalje. Rekla bih da postoji nesto neotkriveno,
gotovo podcijenjeno u upotrebi opernog materijala u kontekstu koreografske
prakse, a cije je postepeno razotkrivanje ostavilo snazan otisak na moj rad
u podrucju pokreta. Iako su pojedine opere koreografirane ili se nesto
koreografije desilo unutar uobicajenog opernog insceniranja jos uvijek mi
je nedostajala odredjena esenca, neko temeljno shvacanje na kojoj platformi
se koreografija i opera zapravo susrecu i gdje je eventualna tocka trenja.
Tako sam u Becu odlucila napraviti svojevrsni radikalni iskorak iz (i iz
vlastitog) konvencionalnog te se punim plucima ubaciti u pretjerano, neprobavljivo
i nekontrolirano. Rezultat je bila krajnje hibridna izvedba gdje su se ugodno
smjestile kako Kathleen Battle i Jessye Norman tijekom probe za Ariadne
auf Naxos sa Jamesom Levineom tako i ekstravagantno P. Hiltonovsko valjanje
po plazi. Ovdje je operni materijal u potpunosti koreografirao odabrani set
umjesto da on samo uokviruje operni materijal. Tako postavljeno insceniranje
sam nazvala Paris-Ariadne 1st Layout - koji ce biti nastavljen tijekom
2007. godine. Pa - sada Strauss!
